Subhash Arora on Cloudy Bay
A recent visit to New Zealand afforded Indian Wine Academy founder Subhash Arora the chance to sample some of the country's finest wines, from none other than world-famous vintner Cloudy Bay.
The journalist declared the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2008 to be "vivacious, fresh and crisp" with tropical fruits that carried on to a long palate.
Meanwhile, for those who like Indian dishes he recommended the Cloudy Bay Chardonnay 2004 - a "delicious food wine" that would pair well with mutton Biryani or tandoori chicken.
Finally, the Pinot Noir 2007, which has not yet been released on the Indian market, was a first for Mr Arora.
While he was rewarded with an "elegant" wine with "fruity expressions", the writer recommended giving this one a couple of years to see how it evolves.
Cloudy Bay recently released 1,500 bottles of Riesling 2006 onto the UK market for the first time.
