Romanee-Conti poisoner 'targeted other estates'
It seems the estate of Romanee-Conti was not the only target of a blackmailer who recently threatened to poison plants at the famous vineyard: Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue received menacing letters too, it has been revealed.

In recent weeks, it was revealed that Romanee-Conti's director Aubert de Villaine found himself the victim of an extortion attempt and now it has been reported that the same eco-villain tried his luck with Jean-Luc Pepin.

The director of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue told Wine Spectator that he received "a package sent from Paris in January containing a very detailed map of the Musigny grand cru vineyard".

Just as in the Romanee-Conti case, the blackmailer asserted that he had already poisoned two vines to show he was serious and demanded "a few hundred thousand euro" from the owners of the estate.

Thankfully, the extortionist was apprehended by police shortly after his attempt to squeeze money from Mr de Villaine.

According to Wine Anorak, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue has been controlled by the same family for more than 500 years, making the current owners the 20th generation.
