A rare bottle of 1993 Domaine de la Romanee Conti has been reported as stolen from a New York basement storage facility.
The Manhattan Wine Company called police alleging that the $8,500 (£5,492) bottle was stolen from the basement between November 26th and December 6th, reports the Clifton Journal.
Private collectors use the company's facilities to store rare bottles of wine in optimum condition, to protect their investment for resale or drinking in the future.
The firm offers a "fully secure, climate-controlled facility", with 24-hour video camera surveillance, motion detectors and fire detection in case of emergencies.
Police reports indicate that the stolen bottle was being kept in storage in a wooden case prior to the theft, the newspaper reports.
Fortunately, the firm appears to have kept hold of its most prized wine, so investors can still get their hands on a six-magnum original wood case of 2000 Chateau Lafite Rothschild for $29,500 (£19,000).
