The storage market for fine Bordeaux and Burgundy in Hong Kong has become big business as knowledge of fine wine develops, according to one expert.
Jennie Mack, managing director of the Asia Wine Service and Education Centre, told the Drinks Busines there is still a real "thirst" for knowledge about the wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy.
As this knowledge develops, Asian consumers are becoming more savvy about the need to store wine correctly.
Ms Mack told the publication: "Each personal vault is like a little apartment for wine, filled with Petrus and Lafite, it makes you realise that here are some seriously rich people here in Hong Kong and that there are some very sophisticated systems in place."
Paul Pontallier, the technical director of world-renowned Bordeaux First Growth Chateau Margaux, recently suggested that improving levels of wine education in the Far East will be key to building the brand's image there.
