Wine lovers were treated to a glittering array of the finest Chateau Cos d'Estournel wines at a special dinner held by FINE+RARE last night (October 26th).
At the Texture restaurant, situated just off London's Oxford Street, guests were trying some of the finest wines the vineyard has produced while also benefiting from the wisdom of guest host Jean-Guillaume Prats, the chateau's directeur general.
In what was a rare appearance as host of a British dinner, M Prats took diners on a journey through the various spectacular vintages on offer.
This started with a taste of a young 2004 and a refreshing yet traditional 2001, followed by an Indian spice-themed 2000 and a 1996 with a nose full of herbs and toasted oak.
Complemented by food from Michelin-starred chef Aggi Sverisson, the meal culminated with guests enjoying an exquisite 1985, packed with sweet fruit and flavours of liquorice.
As a grand finale, guests were given the chance to taste a 2001 Tokaji by Domaine Hetszolo, the first wine produced at the Hungarian vineyard after it was purchased by Cos d'Estournel, which was marked by the taste of rich, honeyed fruit.
