Folio Fine Wine Partners, the US-based wine importing and marketing company founded by Michael Mondavi, has announced that it will serve as the US importer for celebrated Barolo and Barbaresco producer Bruno Giacosa from next year.
From January 2012, Folio will import Barbaresco Asili, Barolo Falletto, Dolcetto d'Alba Falletto, Nebbiolo d'Alba and many more Piedmont wines to North America.
"We have always respected the Mondavi family and believe they bring a unique perspective to our business, as an importer and a producer," said Mr Giacosa.
Born in 1929, Bruno Giacosa is considered alongside Angelo Gaja as one of the one of the world's greatest producers of Barolo and Barbaresco wines.
He began bottling single vineyard wines in 1967 before buying the Faletto vineyard in 1982, and eventually going on to acquire the Asili and Rabaja vineyards in Barbaresco, which he considered the source of the finest grapes.
Since he suffered a stroke in 2006, Mr Giacosa's daughter Bruna has become more involved in the management of the company.
