The higher prices of en primeur 2010 second wines from First Growth chateaux, such as Chateau Margaux and Chateau Lafite, are not deterring merchants or their customers, it seems.
Chateau Mouton Rothschild recently released just 35 per cent of its Grand Vin 2010, pegging the price of both this and its second wine Petit Mouton to that of Chateau Margaux, Decanter reports.
Speaking to the publication, Simon Davies of FINE+RARE said the quality of Chateau Margaux's second wine, Pavillon Rouge, is on a par with the estate's first wine 20 years ago.
"It has an enormous international following. The Far East loves it. We bought our entire allocation and will have no trouble selling it," he said.
Chateau Palmer, Viex Chateau Certan and Troplong Mondot also released their prices today (June 29th), following in the footsteps of Cos d'Estournel, which is now available from FINE+RARE at £2,180 per case.
