Chateau Latour has joined forces with auction house Christie's for an ex-cellar sale in Hong Kong.
Inspired by the success of a similar event put on by fellow Bordeaux First Growth estate Chateau Lafite Rothschild last year, Chateau Latour wants to use the sale to gain a foothold in the growing Chinese market, according to Decanter.
Christie's Hong Kong will offer a range of vintages from 1863 to 2009, sourced directly from the vineyard.
Provenance is guaranteed by Chateau Latour's prooftag authentication system, along with a label that clearly states the wine has only been made available for the May 27th auction.
"We are going right back to some of the oldest bottles that they have at the chateau, in a variety of formats," Christie's head of wine for Asia, Charles Curtis, told the publication.
A case of 1945 Chateau Latour recently sold at a Christie's sale in New York for £44,172.
