The debate over whether wine critics should publish their Bordeaux en primeur scores early has taken another turn.
Sylvie Cazes, president of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGC), has described the issue as a "marginal problem", Decanter reports.
Earlier this week, French critic Michel Bettane claimed he will boycott en primeur Bordeaux unless the region agrees to stop allowing certain writers to taste early - a practice he described as "disrespectful".
However, Ms Cazes says that most of the select group of critics given permission to taste early will respect the UGC's request not to publish their reviews ahead of release.
"We cannot of course tell individual chateau members of the UGC what to do - or of course other Bordeaux chateaux who receive journalists - but we believe the problem remains very marginal," she told the publication.
Renowned wine writer Jancis Robinson recently questioned whether the early publication of Bordeaux scores is leading to artificially-inflated prices when the wines finally reach the market.
