The first tastings of 2009 Burgundy have indicated that it is a consistent, well-rounded vintage, it is claimed.
According to the Drinks Business, experts have noted that 2009 Burgundy is round and rich, as well as already being very approachable with the potential to get even better with age.
Despite this, Burgundy vineyards have been careful not to over-inflate prices, and as such bottles will compare favourably in value to the 2008 vintage.
Jean-Philippe Archambaud, director of Simonnet-Febvre, told the publication that it would be advisable for wine enthusiasts to consume their 2009 Burgundy before their 2008 or 2007.
He notes that 2007 and 2008 "are more classic and need more time compared to 2009, which is more commercial, rounder and fruitier".
In fact, now may be the perfect time to open those special bottles of Burgundy.
Wine consultant Pamela S Busch, in a piece for the San Francisco Examiner, recently claimed that Burgundy pairs beautifully with traditional winter meals.
