Wine experts are finding that 2009 Burgundy is "balanced and ripe", with a high level of quality overall.
Critic Stephen Brook, writing in Decanter, suggests that although some growers did disappoint, most of the en primeur tastings were of promising wines that would have a place in any wine enthusiast's cellar.
Mr Brook's particular favourites from the 2009 Burgundy selection include Domaine Remi Jobard, Henri Germain and Domaine J Confuron-Cotetido.
He also favours Domaine Michel Gros, noting that it is "full-bodied and concentrated but has a light touch, showing intensity and purity rather than power and opulence".
Domaine Anne Gros is also recommended for having "fine acidity and a sleek texture".
2009 Burgundy's major advantage over the 2007 and 2008 vintages is that it is already "very approachable", while it has the potential to get even better with age, the Drinks Business noted last week.
It also revealed that Burgundy vineyards are being careful not to over-inflate prices, despite high levels of interest.
