2009 Burgundy 'delivers promising wines from all appellations'

The quality of the 2009 vintage has allowed almost all of the Burgundy appellations to turn out quality wines, it has been suggested.

Wine critic Victoria Moore, writing in the Daily Telegraph, says that the en primeur tastings of 2009 Burgundy indicate many high quality early-drinking reds are available.

Pierre Vincent of Domaine de la Vougerai told the publication: "For me, 2009 was the best vintage since I started work."

Ms Moore suggests that buying en primeur can also lead wine enthusiasts to some good bargains, as the complex nature of Burgundy means investors will not jump straight in and push prices up.

The critic says wine lovers should look out for Domaine du Comte Armand Auxey-Duresses Premier Cru, Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Vosne Romanee and Domaine Thierry Mortet Bourgogne Rouge.

Earlier this week, the Drinks Business reported that British oenophiles had reacted eagerly to the en primeur release of 2009 Burgundy, with demand higher than it was for the 2006, 2007 or 2008 vintages.
