Chateau Mouton Rothschild has finally confirmed reports that a Chinese artist has been commissioned to provide the label for the 2008 vintage.
Painter Xu Lei has reworked the famous Chateau Mouton Rothschild ram to depict it standing between two halves of a moon, Decanter reports.
The split moon is said to represent "the role of a great wine as a link between people and cultures, from one hemisphere to the other", the publication noted.
It is expected that the confirmation of the Chinese label will see the value of 2008 Chateau Mouton Rothschild increase even further. Opening at £1,800 per case, it is now trading at £6,000 per case, Decanter revealed.
Fellow Bordeaux First Growth Chateau Lafite Rothschild certainly saw a sharp rise in value after the vineyard announced it was placing the Chinese symbol for the number eight - an extremely lucky number in the country - on its 2008 bottles.
