Average Score 86.0

A very good but not outstanding Yquem. Yellow-gold color. Intense aromas of petrol, spice and honey, with dried apricot. Full-bodied, very sweet, with a green apple and honey character. petrol character comes through on the finish. Better with age. Best after 2005. James Suckling, winespectator.com
Tasted several times, many of them blind and proof of Yquem fallibility. Strong peach/apricot nose with a touch of fig. Not as voluptuous following the Nairac 1990 but what this wine lacks is complexity, botrytis and intelligence. Tasted blind it seemed ordinary compared to others. Approach with caution. Last tasted May 2005 at CECWINE. Simply an ordinary Sauternes (even from this, a double magnum). The nose seems a bit confected whilst the palate is linear and cloying, lacking definition and vigor, sitting on the palate and going nowhere. Neal Martin, Wine Advocate
