The 2016 Vosne Romanee Villages is an expanded cuvee since Leroux takes all the fruit from his contractors. It has an engaging bouquet with a gorgeous red cherry and strawberry bouquet laced with violets. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red and black fruit, quite a good backbone for a village cru partly from whole bunch (50+%) with a detailed finish. Recommended. Domaine Romanée-Conti: Rare & Exceptional
Domaine Romanée-Conti (DRC) is the exemplary Burgundian wine producer. Its 25 ha of Grand Cru vineyards cluster around the village of Vosne Romanée with part of the proprietorship including two of Burgundy’s greatest monopoles, La Tache and Romanée Conti. The six red and one white Grand Cru wines are often transcendental, each single vineyard distinctive (a Batard Montrachet is also ...

A refined, svelte, elegant neighbour to Richebourg
http://vosne-romanee.fr/[/caption] The grand cru vineyards of Vosne-Romanee are arguably the finest vineyards in the world.  Chambertin and Musigny might make a fight of it, though the clump that is La Romanee, Romanee-Conti, La Tache, La Grande Rue, Richebourg and Romanee St Vivant is some very, very serious soil.  Echezeaux and Grands Echezeaux should, strictly, be included here but they ...

Restaurant Review: Fish Market
Claire Huxley reviews London seafood restaurant the Fish Market… Remember that old adage about the best laid plans? It certainly sprung to mind as I trudged through the rain on a recent evening in town, searching for somewhere to eat. After what felt like weeks of failing to plan a reunion with an old friend – complete with missed calls, clashing ...

Paul Pernot 2018
Domaine Paul Pernot in Burgundy terms is a fairly large Estate with a total of 20 hectares under vine and is the largest owner of Puligny Montrachet vines second only to Domaine Leflaive with 15 hectares in total. When it comes to Puligny-Montrachet, Jasper Morris MW reports in “Inside Burgundy”- Domaine Paul Pernot “could be the outstanding domaine of that ...

Domaine Hudelot Noellat - Top picks of 2018
Our visit to Domaine Hudelot Noellat during our autumn stint in Burgundy was easily one of the highlights of the trip. Expectations were already high since Charles Van Canneyt (winemaker at the domaine) has been on a roll, producing fantastic wines at this property since taking over from his uncle in 2008. Whilst Charles prefers the cooler vintages in Burgundy, ...
