The Vosne-Romanee village 2014 from George Noellat is a hedonistic treasure. 40% new oak is used on this wine. In the nose bright and red fruit – raspberries, variation of cherries – brought forward by a fine spicy Vosne minerality – quite floral. On the palate fine and delicate fruit – with a very lovely cool fruit on the midpalate – love the inner tension and energy – it’s quite velvet and long with a fine balance and tension for this level. Best village effort so far from Maxime – in my view. Nov 2015,, Drink: 2022+
Here the expressive and equally fresh nose is notably spicier with its cool array of both red and dark berry fruit aromas that are also trimmed in a hint of wood. There is a highly attractive sense of vibrancy to the well-detailed medium-bodied flavors that are also shaped by relatively fine-grained tannins on the mildly austere but impressively complex finale. Jan 2016,
(40% new oak; a blend of four disparate parcels; racked into cuve 12 days before my visit and slated for a January bottling): Bright medium red. Good precision to the aromas of raspberry and sexy high-toned oak. Shows more structure and reserve if less immediate sweetness than the Nuits villages, with raspberry and spice flavors dominating today. Finishes firm and fresh, with ripe tannins and saliva-inducing minerality. Jan 2016,
The 2014 Vosne Romanée Village, half in stainless steel and half in new oak, has a clean and precise bouquet, quite floral in style with fine mineral tones filtering through the expressive red fruit. A more elegant and restrained style of wine, this will delight over the next 4-5 years. Dec 2015,, Drink: 2016-2022
