The 2012 Volnay Village comes from four parcels of vine. It has a crisp bouquet with black rather than red berry fruit that is well-defined, springing from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with nice thick tannins that feel ripe and soft in the mouth. The acidity is well-judged and there is a sense of nonchalance and harmony towards the finish. All you could want from a village cru. Dec 2013, www.robertparker.com

Joseph Colin - The new Domaine on the Cote de Beaune Block
The family name Colin is a hard one to escape in the Cote de Beaune, with a handful of prolific producers dotted around Saint Aubin, Puligny and Chassagne Montrachet all sharing the name. Consumers could be forgiven for getting a little confused over which one is which! We caught up with Joseph Colin, the newest Colin to go solo, following ...

Whilst he believes acidity and tension are vital for ...

Domaine Henri Boillot - Producer Portrait
As Stephen Tanzer outlines in his recent report, Henri Boillot is the first out picking on the Montrachet slopes. The combination of small production and picking early comes from a desire to retain vibrancy and energy in the wines over and above riper styles of Chardonnay found elsewhere in the Cotes de Beaune. This mineral driven “understated” yet “explosive” style ...

A sneak peak at 2011 Burgundy (and a bit about 2012 too)
July ought not to be a great time to taste a new vintage from Burgundy. Nine months after harvest the wines are still very young – there is a reason why it’s not until November time, when the wines have had a bit longer to settle down in barrel, that the majority of the wine trade decamps to the Cote ...

Potinet-Ampeau: Spellbinding Aged Burgundy
A tip from a top industry insider led us to the late-released wines of Domaine Potinet-Ampeau... A special Burgundy tasting: Domaine Potinet-Ampeau. Last week the team at FINE+RARE had the pleasure of sampling a flight of Burgundies from Domaine Potinet-Ampeau. It was a great tasting, not the usual range of young wines from the latest vintage as is the norm, these ...
