Average Score 91.0

The wine is tannic, rich and full-bodied, with impressive purity, loads of black raspberry, black currant, graphite and smoky barbecue notes intermixed with some toasty oak and forest floor. Rich and impressive, but needing cellar time, this wine begs for 4-5 years of bottle age and should drink well for 25-30 years.||The resurrection of this chateau is apparent with the 2010 Villemaurine. Up to this point, this was always one of the most disappointing wines in St.-Emilion, but new ownership, new cellars and a new commitment to quality have given this property a new lease on life. It is beautifully situated high on the limestone plateau just outside the walls of St.-Emilion and is a very small property of only 17.5 acres. In 2010, yields were cut to 29 hectoliters per hectare and the final blend was 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc that hit 14.5% natural alcohol. Wine Advocate.February, 2013
Villemaurine is located not far from the village of St. Emilion. Jammy berries, licorice, spice, pepper and plum scents pop from the glass. Lush and round, this concentrated, ripe wine is loaded with sweet, jammy black cherries and fennel. This is the finest wine I've ever tasted from this property. With a new owner, new consultant (Stephane Derenoncourt) and a new label, they are off to a great start.
