Average Score 88.13

Attractive violet edging and clear vibrancy on display. It starts elegantly as the tannins come in with quite a flourish, before softening through the mid-palate. Well balanced with lots of succulent fruit that provides a mouthwatering finish. Well judged, this has great potential for pleasurable medium term drinking. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2021-2035
82% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. Very late malolactic. Good ripe Cabernets. Deep crimson. Very sappy nose. Charming and complete.  Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2023-2030
The 2016 Villars has a more classically-driven, perhaps backward bouquet compared to its Fronsac peers, and it required some time to open in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, candied opening. It feels like this has undergone a little more maceration than others and feels just a tad overdone on the finish. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com
The 2016 Villars plump, juicy Fronsac with plenty of near term appeal. The red berry flavors offer a good bit of exuberance. If the tannins soften, the Villars could very well come at the upper end of my predicted range. There is a lot to like. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
