Critic Notes

"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2010 The Armagh Shiraz flaunts a gorgeous aromatic red and black fruit core intermingled with clove, chocolate box, and eucalyptus aromas that are still very primary... it has a really fine palate that is very elegant yet powerful. With vibrant acid, firm and very fine tannins, the flavors are rich and layered with spices coming through on the long finish. Drink it from 2015 to 2030+. "

Score: 99-/100The Wine Advocate

Deep garnet with a touch of purple, the 2010 Shiraz The Armagh offers a beautiful black fruit core, yielding notes of crushed blackberries and blueberries, with an undercurrent of coffee and spice box, plus touches of earth and raw meat. Full-bodied and built like a brick house, it has concentrated, very youthful fruit that reveals many layers in the long, long finish. Aug 2016, www.robertparker.com

The Great Claret Tasting at Southwold - The 2011 Vintage
The Great Claret Tasting at Southwold is a wine geek’s dream.  An entire vintage of Bordeaux, straight from the chateau in nearly all cases, evaluated blind by the elite of the UK wine trade: representatives of all the major merchants, with the wine press represented by Steven Spurrier, the Wine Advocate’s Neal Martin and Julia Harding of jancisrobinson.com.   I have ...

Armagnac: France's Best Kept Secret
If I say ‘brandy’ you’ll probably think of Cognac, but what about Armagnac? Both Cognac and Armagnac are brandies from different regions of France; however, Cognac was the luckier of the two brandy brothers and is subsequently the better known of the two. The town of Cognac, located in Charente, has always had well-established trade routes due to its location, ...

A Trip to Armagnac Part I: Domaine Boingneres
Domaine Boingneres enjoys more commercial success than many other properties in Armagnac and indeed, Madame Lafitte’s expressions of Folle Blanch and the elusive Baco may be found in many a Michelin star restaurant and fancy hotel. With an established following of world class sommeliers such as Gerrard Basset (World best Sommelier 2010) and Enrico Bernardo (World best Sommelier 2004), this ...
