Average Score 89.42

The 2016 Taillefer is plump, juicy and absolutely delicious. Succulent red cherry, plum, mocha and espresso are all pushed forward. A wine with no hard edges, silky tannins and fabulous balance, the 2016 has a lot to recommend it. There is a wonderful sense of immediacy. The 2016 is not the most complex Pomerol readers will come across, but it is delicious and very nicely rendered. Tasted two times. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
The 2016 Taillefer has an extravagant bouquet with plenty of black cherry and blueberry fruit, and yet there is a touch of volatile acidity here that just deprives this Pomerol of the detail it might otherwise have. The palate is better with fine tannin and pure, truffle tinged fruit. I appreciate the satin-like texture towards the smoke-tinged finish and it feels persistent in the mouth. I am sure that the aromatics will calm down and that touch of volatile acidity (it really is not much) will be addressed by the time it is in bottle. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2021-2038
Very dark crimson. Rich and peppery on the nose. Not the sweetest on the palate but decent.  Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2024-2038
The medium garnet-purple colored 2016 Taillefer opens with tar and earth over a core of black plums and blackberries with a waft of chargrill. Medium to full-bodied in the mouth, it's firm, chewy and earthy with good length. Nov 2018, www.robertparker.com
This has bright, sappy and ripe redcurrant and cherry fruit. A fresh, medium term drinker. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2024-2038
Richly concentrated, this wine has a pepper edge that suggests high alcohol and gives it a fat character, with solid tannins lending some structure. Apr 2017, Roger Voss, www.wineenthusiast.com
