2013 Sansonnet

flagBordeaux / France

This is another property much like Villemaurine, that has come of age and is one of the up-and-coming stars to look for from St. Emilion. The 2013 is a sleeper of the vintage, much like the 2009 and 2010. The final blend is 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc hit 13.5% natural alcohol. The wine was produced from 12 hl/ha yields, largely because of the vintage. Seventy percent of the harvest made it into the final wine. It shows good structure, an opaque purple color, and a sweet nose of blueberry and black raspberry fruit (a characteristic of this estate), licorice, graphite and spring flowers. It is medium-bodied, has good depth, overall ripeness and should drink nicely for 10-12+ years. Aug 2014, www.robertparker.com
