Average Score 91.0

A very rounded red, already showing an almost creamy texture to its plum sauce, blackberry and melted licorice notes. The long, polished finish makes this seem accessible now, belying the depth that's here. A serious young wine. James Molesworth,
A strong showing from this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that hit 14.7% natural alcohol, the 2010 Rol Valentin exhibits oodles of sweet black currant and black raspberry fruit along with some toasty oak and a note of charcoal embers in a full-bodied, opulent, showy, even flamboyant style that seems to beg comparison to 2009. This wine should drink beautifully for 10-15 years. Wine Advocate.February, 2013
Coffee, truffle, cassis, plums and licorice scents fill your glass. Silky in texture and more concentrated than the 2009, the wine ends with floral, plum and fennel flavors. Thanks to investments from the new owners and the efforts of their consultant, Stephane Derenoncourt, this Bordeaux wine from St. Emilion is becoming a property to watch.
Dark crimson. Minerally, racy nose and then very rich on the palate. Tannins well managed. Really long and punchy. Very complete.
Shows rich, ripe, generous fruit but with balancing freshness. Concentrated but balanced. Drink 2016-2025. James Lawther,
This is a dense wine filled with vibrant dark berry fruits with extracted tannins. The tannins are so thick that the flavours are not well defined. Need to retaste this wine in 6-12 months time.
The Rol-Valentin 2010 has a ripe, opulent bouquet that is just lacking a little delineation. The palate is rounded on the entry with succulent tannins, good weight and purity but missing a little tension towards the chewy finish. Just a little monotonous for my palate, I wonder if another sample would have tasted better? Tasted April 2011. Neal Martin
