Critic Notes

Picked on October 19 prior the dry version at 15.8% potential alcohol, the 2013 Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg Vendange Tardive shows a fresh, lemon-green color and a super clear and precise bouquet. Ripe, lush and nicely concentrated on the filigreed and highly elegant palate, this still discreet VT is structured by its salty taste and its finesse-full, very delicate acidity (8.23 grams per liter). The finish is pure and very mineral. The precision and richness of detail makes this a gothic Riesling cathedral. Simply excellent and still on its way. (The wine was bottled with 10.74% alcohol and 89.9 grams per liter residual sugar.) Oct 2015, www.robertparker.com

Rangen de Thann Grand Cru
Following our masterclass with Olivier Humbrecht MW and tasting through his extraordinary collection, we haven't been able to forget the wines from the Grand Cru vineyard of Rangen de Thann. These are wines that are overwhelmingly dominated by their terroir, with an abundance of mineral tones over and above fruit-forward flavours. Decanter’s Andrew Jefford describes the Rangen vineyard as "the ...
