Pale greenish. (Only half as much botrytis in this vineyard as for Cuvée Frédéric Emile this year.) Very pure fruit. Concentrated and pleasing already on the nose though with a hint of austerity. Grainy, textured, deep on the palate. Slightly toasty character. Massive extract. Bodes well. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com
The 1998 Riesling Clos St. Hune is a spectacular wine. It displays a magnificent aromatic purity, with complex herbal, mineral, and crisp pear scents. Medium to full-bodied, and awesomely broad, powerful, and harmonious, this tightly-wound, slate, chalk, lemon-lime, quartz, and cocoa powder-flavored wine is silky-textured and breathtakingly intense. It should be at its peak of maturity between 2006 and 2015+. ||(Released in 2003) Wine Advocate.June, 2000

Seductive. More classical in style, this Riesling offers intense peach, apple and pine forest aromas and flavors matched to a steely, dry profile. It's understated, yet leaves more to the imagination, teasing with its nuances and sophisticated charms. Drink now through 2010. 700 cases made. WineSpectator.com
