Critic Notes

From a south-facing parcel, the 2014 Riesling Grand Cru Brand displays a pure and flinty bouquet with ripe white and lemony fruit aromas intermixed with herbal flavors. Intense and piquant on the palate, this full-bodied Riesling is dense and complex, still very young but enormously mineral in the finish. The fruit is concentrated and almost tropical and the tannins are adequately firm. This Brand has a remarkable finesse and juicy character, and finishes with power and structure. Still very young but really promising. It is from a less steep plot than in the Sommerberg and from decomposed granite soils where the roots go deep. Mar 2017, www.robertparker.com

Chateau Brane Cantenac - Behind the Bottle
Chateau Brane Cantenac has been a consistent performer in Margaux since Henri Lurton took over the property in 1992. But in the last decade the quality has taken another sharp upswing. Even in a mixed vintage like 2014, Brane produced a beautiful wine. 2015 and 2016 were both outstanding and arguably some of the best wines ever made at the ...

Rangen de Thann Grand Cru
Following our masterclass with Olivier Humbrecht MW and tasting through his extraordinary collection, we haven't been able to forget the wines from the Grand Cru vineyard of Rangen de Thann. These are wines that are overwhelmingly dominated by their terroir, with an abundance of mineral tones over and above fruit-forward flavours. Decanter’s Andrew Jefford describes the Rangen vineyard as "the ...
