This is incredible for this site with intense fruit and wild acidity. Full and super lively with blueberry, blackberry and firm tannins. Best ever. 75 percent Merlot, 20 percent Cabernet Franc, and 5 percent Malbec.
Medium-bodied, round but classic in style. Fresh, clean and reserved. Drink 2015-2022. James Lawther,
Puygueraud, like La Prade, both of which are made by Nicolas Theinpont, once again utilized optical sorting machines for the harvest. Produced from a blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec, this full bodied wine is stuffed with licorice, cassis, smoke and dark cherries.
The most widely encountered cuvee from this estate will be the 2010 Puygeraud, their non-George cuvee, which is mostly Merlot with about 25% Cabernet Franc and a tiny bit of Malbec. This wine hit 14.5% natural alcohol in 2010, which I think is an all-time high. This attractive wine is surprisingly elegant, lush and fruit forward, as one might expect from this unheralded appellation. Deep ruby/purple, with plenty of fruit, the team of Nicolas Thienpont and Stephane Derenoncourt have done a super job with this inexpensive wine. Wine Advocate.February, 2013
There is nice depth of fruit and flavours for a medium- bodied Fronsac. This wine has supple, ripe tannins, generous opulent fruit without heaviness. The firm acidity provides nice backbone and lift.
