The Zind-Humbrecht 2008 Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl was picked-out on the same principle as the Heimbourg and Rotenberg, but in this instance the (more-or-less) healthy fruit selected out early finished with 37 grams of residual sugar whose effects even Riesling-like acids could do only so much to counteract, so the effect – while lovely – is decidedly sweeet. Ripe peach and quince; fresh lime and ginger; musky, peony-like floral perfume, all combine for a memorable aromatic display and a silken-textured, quite elegant palate impression, that finishes with soothing yet persistently lively length. This ought to be a joy to revisit over the next 15 or even 20 years. May 2011, www.robertparker.com

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht 2012s with Olivier Humbrecht MW

Last week we were fortunate to have the man himself, Olivier Humbrecht, from legendary Domaine Zind Humbrecht in our London office presenting a fascinating tasting through the different top vineyard sites of Alsace. Through the tasting we sampled the different varietals grown on the same vineyards, as opposed to tasting in varietal order. It was an intriguing insight into terroir ...

A Feast with Olivier Humbrecht at Hunan
After our wonderful masterclass with Olivier Humbrecht of Domaine Zind-Humbrecht, we whisked him away, along with a few of our customers, to Hunan – one of London’s leading Chinese restaurants. Olivier planned another brilliant tasting for us – a Heimbourg vertical – designed to showcase the particularities of this single vineyard. With a particular focus on the Heimbourg Gewurztraminer, the ...

Behind the Bottle: Clos des Goisses Champagne
Philipponnat’s single vineyard Clos des Goisses is one of Champagne’s most famous vineyards. It is the steepest, directly south-facing vineyard in the whole of Champagne (between 30- 45% gradient), and the hottest site in the region. It is a 5.5 hectare narrow strip (800 metres long and 100 metres wide) perfectly positioned to push the natural ripeness of the grapes to a level ...
