The aromas of blackcurrants, oyster shell and blackberries are impressive. Full-bodied, chewy and rich — showing a fantastic depth of fruit and intensity. Extremely long and beautiful. Needs four to five years to soften. First vintage from the new winery at this estate. Try in 2022. Feb 2017,
The Chƒteau P‚desclaux 2014, what will surely be known in future as the "fishtank" chƒteau given that it is now encased in glass, is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Merlot aged in 60% new oak. It has a precise and well defined bouquet with minerally black fruit infused with graphite and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with supple black fruit and that hints of graphite again. The acidity is well judged and there is a sense of refinement and class on the finish. This estate has been threatening to make a great wine...this might be it.
Dark red cherries, plums, smoke, new leather and cedar meld together in the 2014 P‚desclaux. Silky, supple and expressive even in its youth, the 2014 will drink well with minimal cellaring. The high percentage of Merlot in the blend gives P‚desclaux lovely juiciness and much of its soft, easygoing personality. The blend is 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Merlot. Tasted two times.
