Beautiful fragrant purity of fruit, crystal clear, a feminine style of wine with taffeta, lissom texture and length for the future. Drink 2016-2026
Combines both silky texture and good tension, with a light chalky thread running through the middle of the almost plush plum and blackberry fruit. There's a bright cassis bush edge as well (telltale of the Petit Verdot component), and overall there's a very suave feel through the finish, with a lingering jasmine edge. Tasted non-blind.
From 28% of the total crop Pavillon Rouge is a real success in a difficult vintage and worth mentioning that on the day it performed better than the grand vin at Palmer. Blackberries, damsons, graphite dominate the lifted and slightly floral nose. This is very good indeed, intensely concentrated, tight and fine with bright acidity. streamlined.
The second wine of first growth Margaux shows some strength with muscular tannins and pretty fruit with hints of flowers and minerals. Slightly hollow in the mid-palate but very pretty.
The delicious, sexy 2011 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux reveals a dense ruby/purple color along with broad, expansive red and black fruit, flower and spice notes. Supple and round with finesse, elegance, complexity and richness, it is everything a second wine should be. Enjoy it over the next 15+ years. Wine Advocate.April, 2014
