Critic Notes
Dense and packed with fruit, this is a rich wine. It does have structured tannins but it is the juicy fruit that really dominates. It is concentrated and will develop quickly, but then should hold well. Apr 2017, Roger Voss, www.wineenthusiast.com

Well-focused, with cherry pit and iron edges giving this a slightly austere profile, while cassis and plum notes push for balance from the inside out. Apr 2017, James Molesworth, www.winespectator.com

The 2016 Paloumey offers outgoing, quite plush blackberry, black tea and black olive scents on the nose, a touch of melted tar developing with aeration. It like the gutsy-style of this Haut-Médoc. The palate is medium-bodied with crushed blackberry, white pepper and a touch of citrus fruit. There is plenty of freshness here, although I would be seeking more cohesion and a touch more detail on the finish. The 2016 Paloumey is a gorgeous Haut-Médoc. Sweet tobacco, licorice, iron, herbs and dried cherries are front and center. Aromatic, pliant and expressive, with plenty of Cabernet character dominating the flavor profile and tannin structure, the 2016 is a real winner. There is lovely depth and density here. This is a terrific showing. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com

Very dark crimson. Rather strange damp webbing and non-winey nose. Very marked tannins and acidity dominate the fruit. Bitter finish. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2023-2030

This has some good ripe cassis fruits and careful extraction. The tannins are a touch rustic, but this is a pleasurable medium term drinking wine from a highly reliable and good quality Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Authentic and ripe fruit expression. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2022-2038

Medium garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Paloumey features red and black currants, cherries and mulberries on the nose with earth and herbs nuances. The palate is medium to full-bodied, very firm, chewy and bitter with an herbal finish. Nov 2018, www.robertparker.com
