The 2014 Moulin A Vent Clos de Londres is another micro-cuvee that comes from a parcel just outside the chateau and for that reason the Parinet family believe that the previous owners paid a lot of attention to it. It was bottled in December 2015. It has an attractive bouquet with raspberry coulis, wild strawberry and bilberry that is well defined and seems to gain intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannin. This seems fresh and tensile, displays a light oyster shell note towards the finish that lingers in the mouth. You have the feeling that this will have more to give with 2-3 years in bottle and it is an exquisite take on Moulin-a-Vent that will give a decade's worth of drinking pleasure. Behind the Bottle: Chateau des Jacques 2018 Moulin-à-Vent Clos de Rochegrès
“Beaujolais is on a roll, not to mention the just-coming-out superb 2018s” The 2018s “may be even better than 2015….Great vintages like these can age.” - James Suckling An ageworthy Moulin-à-Vent from a fantastic Beaujolais vintage We are hearing great things about the 2018 vintage in Burgundy: the hot weather, for those who picked at ...

Discovering Dal Forno: A Veneto Travelogue
On Thursday 2nd August a small group from FINE+RARE flew out to Verona to visit the legendary Veneto estate, Dal Forno. We were all thrilled at the prospect, as we’ve been big fans of Dal Forno’s work for quite some time now, and were really looking forward to seeing how the family create such exquisite wines. It’s fair to say ...

Venissa – The Walled Vineyard of Venice
Against All The Odds Venice is a city that seems to exist against all the odds: erosion, subsidence, flooding and over-population are all serious problems in this unique enclave of Northeast Italian coastline. Despite this, Venice remains arguably one of the most beautiful cities in the world, full of history, some of the world’s finest architecture, craftsmanship... not to mention ...

Chateau Clos de Sarpe: Tasting through the Ages
Clos de Sarpe is a rather unassuming place to visit, nestled in a little enclave north east of the village of Saint Emilion. It is in fact a tiny property in Bordeaux terms, made up of just 3.7 hectares and producing a maximum of 14,000 bottles a year, but more often than not, closer to just 10,000. In 2018 they ...
