Critic Notes

The 2015 Monthelie 1er Cru Sur La Velle had a tight-fisted bouquet that refused to unfurl with aeration (although this is not necessarily a bad thing at this primordial stage—good things come to those that wait). The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, well-judged acidity, much more finessed than the aromatics imply with a gentle, caressing, white pepper tinged finish that is a treat. Give this a couple of years in bottle if you can. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com
