Average Score 89.9

This exuberant, flamboyant, modern-styled St.-Emilion from Gerard and Chantal Perse is plump, succulent and irresistible in 2009. Yields were a low 28 hectoliters per hectare, and the blend was a classic combination of 70% Merlot and the rest primarily Cabernet Franc and a tiny dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon. The alcohol of 14.2% is typical for a Monbousquet. Copious notes of toasty oak, vanillin, jammy black and red fruits intermixed with notions of wood fire barbecue, roasted espresso and chocolate jump from the glass of this fleshy, exotic, impressively endowed, full-bodied, silky smooth, opulent 2009. It should drink well for 15+ years. Wine Advocate.February, 2012
Milk chocolate with bright berry character on the nose. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and gorgeous ripe fruit. Long and caressing. A little overripe
Dark, smooth and precise. Aromatically a little shy at present. Tannins firm but fine. Freshness on the finish. Undoubted potential. Drink 2015-2025
Blackish crimson. Very lively. Racy and very richly unctuous. Almost more like a port than a table wine, it’s so sweet and silky. Dried out the palate on the end. Extreme wine with a bit too much concentration for comfort. Drying tannins. Jancis Robinson,
Tasted at Chateau Pavie. Picked between 1st and 10th October and cropped at 28hl/ha, a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, this has a tightly wound blackberry, raspberry, cedar scented bouquet, the palate smooth on the entry, suppler than Chateau Lusseau tasted just before. Harmonious, dense furry tannins with a touch of burnt toast inflecting the black fruits on the finish. Hard going. Tasted March 2010.
