Critic Notes

The refined nose flirts with mild reduction but not so much that the green apple and broad mix of floral aromas that are abundantly sprinkled with wet stone hints cannot be appreciated. The palate impression is exceptionally tight and focused with a driving minerality to the energetic and almost painfully intense flavors that etch the palate on the beautifully well-balanced and explosively long finish that is almost markedly dry but not aggressively so. This is a classically styled Perrières that should amply reward longer-term cellaring and note that it's going to require it as it's unlikely that this will drink all that well young. <B>Tasted: Jun 15, 2014. Domaine Henri Boillot - Producer Portrait
As Stephen Tanzer outlines in his recent report, Henri Boillot is the first out picking on the Montrachet slopes. The combination of small production and picking early comes from a desire to retain vibrancy and energy in the wines over and above riper styles of Chardonnay found elsewhere in the Cotes de Beaune. This mineral driven “understated” yet “explosive” style ...

Six iconic Burgundy wines
1. 2012 Romanee Conti Domaine De La Romanee Conti Average Score: 99pts Neal Martin (99 pts) - Usually, choosing between La Tache and Romanee-Conti is like choosing between your two favourite children. Not this year. The 2012 Romanee-Conti is one of the most spellbinding that I have tasted since I began 17 years ago. The bouquet is quite astonishing with ...
