Tasted at Vintex. This has a well defined red-berried nose with just a hint of apricot and orange sorbet...very Margaux like and it improves with aeration. The palate however, is delectable from the start: beautiful balance at the core of which are filigree tannins and a supremely well poised red-berried finish. This is a superb Maucaillou. A second sample flirted with over-ripeness, but showed sufficient delineation on the finish to remain positive about its development. Tasted March 2010.
Aromatic - dark fruit, liquorice - ripe but savoury. Then seems, unexpectedly, overripe on the palate. First note of raisining so far in this tasting. (JH) Jancis Robinson,
Good plummy, direct fruit, supple and rounded, natural acidity, forward style. Drink 2013-17
A one-dimensional, simple, straightforward wine with good red and black fruits, some herbs and earth, the superficiality of this wine is apparent on the palate as it lacks concentration and should therefore be consumed over the next 7-8 years. Wine Advocate.February, 2012
