Critic Notes

The 2014 Marsannay had been racked three weeks previously and I tasted the final cuvee, whereby about half the fruit derives from the domaine's own vines. It has a tightly wound bouquet with black cherry and a vein of sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, moderate acidity with a firm, quite voluminous finish that needs just a touch more depth. Dec 2015, www.robertparker.com

Henri Jayer - Burgundy's most collectable wine
Henri Jayer’s career in wine started when he began looking after the Camuzet’s vineyards during the Second World War. He is most famously associated with the production of Vosne Romanee 1er cru “Cros Parentoux”,  a vineyard which, at the time he took over, was largely a neglected vineyard site sitting above the Grand Cru site of Richebourg. With very thin ...

We started contacting producers back in February to try and secure a bottle ...

What Fine Wine Producers are Drinking in 2018
Fine wine producers tend to be very inquisitive people - often leaning towards the obsessive in search of that perfection. Their constant desire to capture every possible subtlety or nuance in their wine can often be stoked by tasting something sublime in anothers. Whilst there may still be some winemakers who work on their own projects without a care for ...

Charles van Canneyt - Producer Portrait
Charles Van Canneyt is the young vigneron at the helm of Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat. When Alain Hudelot-Noëllat stepped down from running the domaine in 2008 – a post he had been in for around three decades – he handed stewardship straight to his grandson Charles. Based in Vougeot, this domaine has seen vast improvements in quality in recent years, under the guidance of ...

FINE+RARE: The 2013 Burgundy Report
We visited Burgundy early in November and spent a week extensively tasting the 2013 Burgundy vintage. These wines are just starting to appear on to the market and we will see most of the wines released over the next couple of months. Burgundy is changing. 2013 is the fourth short crop in a row for the Burgundians, and some growers, ...
