Le Mesnil sur Oger’s village co-operative crafts exceptional-value, Chardonnay-based Champagne. Made entirely from Grand Cru fruit and aged for a minimum 36 months on lees, its Blanc de Blancs has long been a FINE+RARE favourite. The essence of the Le Mesnil terroir is immediately captured on the nose of this superb Champagne – chalky with pithy citrus, white flowers and pear frangipane. There’s freshness, depth, minerality and focus here, all mirrored on the palate, which is initially distinctly mineral and saline, with a chalky texture. It softens out into juicy, honeyed orchard fruit, supported but not dominated by lively acidity, with a pronounced peach note on the long, satin-like finish. Tremendous value and delicious drinking for fans of tight and mineral yet generous Blanc de Blancs.
