Critic Notes

A brilliant and intense white with oyster shell, lemon, pear and sea salt character. Full body, flavorful finish. Mar 2016, JamesSuckling.com

Score: 94-95/100James Suckling

The 2015 La Tour Martillac has a gorgeous, complex nose, subtle pear and green apple scents, a whiff of the old sea spray coming in from the Atlantic. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, very complex in the mouth with lip-smacking salinity towards the finish. What a fabulous white Bordeaux from the estate, certainly one of the best that I have ever encountered. Apr 2016, www.eRobertParker.com, Drink: 2020-2045

If you like your white Bordeaux with lots of gunflinty, thiol characters, you’ll love this blend. Pithy, zesty, grapefruit and gooseberry notes are complemented by aromatic vanilla oak and a smoky finish. Apr 2016, www.timatkin.com, Drink: 2017-2025

33% Sauvignon Blanc, 67% Sémillon, picked 28 August to 8 September. Floral, honeyed nose. Big but with sufficient acidity and race. Clearly lots of alcohol (more than 14.5%). Heat on the end. Big AND crisp! A bit harsher than La Clarté de Haut-Brion. Apr 2016, www.JancisRobinson.com, Drink: 2022-2032

The Latour Martillac 2015 Blanc opens with fresh straw, preserved lemons, kumquat and peach kernel notes. The medium-bodied mouth is fine and intense with a lively backbone and fruity finish. Feb 2018, www.robertparker.com

A sure-value buy from the Kressmann family. Slightly sweet ripeness on the nose and a little soft on the palate compared to the 2014, even though there are lovely fruits on display. One third new oak, aged on the lees. Apr 2016, Jane Anson, www.Decanter.com, Drink: 2017-2025
