Dense and rich with lots of ripe fruit and cooked-apple, lemon and peach character. Full body, bright acidity and phenolic texture to back it up. Mar 2017, www.jamessuckling.com

This sports a racy edge, with verbena and thyme flavors out front followed by lime pith and green plum notes. Good energy through the finish. Apr 2017, James Molesworth, www.winespectator.com

Sweet and heady with a strong lemon streak. Trying hard! Good drive though not that much juice. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2018-2023

The Larrivet Haut Brion 2016 Blanc has a touch more vigor and zip to it compared to other dry white Bordeaux. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, touches of green apple, pear and a touch of salinite on the finish. This is certainly one of the better dry white Bordeaux wines in 2016. The 2016 Larrivet-Haut-Brion Blanc is a powerful wine endowed with striking textural depth and nuance. Fermentation in a combination of oak, cement and concrete egg, along with the personality of the vintage, results in an ample, creamy white. The citrus, slate and green pear flavors are bright and nicely focused, but it is the wine's energy that stands out most. The blend is 80% Sauvignon and 20% Sémillon. Stéphane Derenoncourt and Frédéric Massie consult. Tasted two times. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com

Clear Sauvignon Blanc varietal character here (it makes up 80% of the blend), singing and fresh with mandarin notes alongside the citrus. It doesn't quite deliver the complexity and grip of the best vintages from this estate, but is still an enjoyably fresh and mouthwatering white. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2018-2028
