A purity and finesse to this young Sauternes with mushroom, botrytis and flower character. The sweetness, fruit, phenolics and acidity balance it out to an ethereal level. Lovely finish. Mar 2016, www.JamesSuckling.com
A ripe, unctuous style, with a big core of nectarine, peach, mango and quince flavors, backed by lots of spice and ginger. Among the more backward examples at this early stage, but everything is here. Mar 2016, James Molesworth, www.WineSpectator.com
The 2015 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a slightly taciturn bouquet at first, though it soon awakens to deliver pure wild honey and subtle marmalade notes, though it maintains a sense of restraint. The palate is well balanced and very pure, a sensual Lafaurie-Peyraguey with a very harmonious, light-spiced marmalade and honeyed finish. This is stylish and understated, but I suspect it will age extremely well. Apr 2016, www.eRobertParker.com, Drink: 2020-2055
Perfumed nose of acacia honey, crystallised ginger, lemon verbena, juniper and fresh citrus fruit. Impeccable balance to the acid-sugar-tannin ratio and boasts noteworthy refinement. One of the best Sauternes of the vintage; refined yet powerful. Apr 2016, Ian D'Agata, www.Decanter.com, Drink: 2019-2035
If you’re looking for a Sauternes to tuck away for a few years, this is a good candidate, thanks to its backbone of crisp, mineral acidity. Honey, baking spices and saffron notes are embellished by aromatic oak and underpinned by that steely freshness. Apr 2016, www.timatkin.com, Drink: 2019-2030
Greenish tinge. Mild mannered, putty nose. Lots of richness. Some prominent green notes on the end - a little aggressive at the moment. The acidity trumps the sweetness for now. And the finish is pretty astringent. Apr 2016, www.JancisRobinson.com, Drink: 2025-2042
The 2015 Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Silvio Denz's dry white Bordeaux, is still on its lees, but even so, it is impressive. Expressive floral notes add aromatic overtones to a core of peach and apricot. The 2015 is 73% Sémillon and 27% Sauvignon Blanc, fermented in barrel. Even with all of its obvious intensity, the 2015 retains terrific freshness. This is a striking white from proprietor Silvio Denz and consultant Denis Dubourdieu. Apr 2016, www.Vinous.com
