The second wine of Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a wine for claret drinkers rather than points junkies. Typically floral and refined, with very gentle oaking, it’s a more serious wine than it seems at first, showing supporting tannins, a twist of vanilla spice and refreshing acidity. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2020-2025
Soft and silky second wine of Grand Puy Lacost. Medium to full body, juicy fruit and a velvety tannic finish. Mar 2016,
60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Dark crimson. Racy, not concentrated but lots of drive. Quite early maturing. Sandpaper end. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2023-2031
The 2015 Lacoste-Borie is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It has a slightly muted bouquet, tobacco-tinged black fruit that gently opens in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, foursquare in the mouth with that tobacco theme continuing. Linear, a little aloof at the moment, I would hope that more flesh can come through towards the spicy finish that cuts away a little swiftly. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2020-2035
The second wine of Grand-Puy-Lacoste, the Lacoste-Borie offers good depth and plenty of immediacy. Plum, mocha and dark spice notes give the Lacoste-Borie much of its succulence. This plump, juicy Pauillac should drink well with minimal cellaring. Tasted two times. Apr 2016,
