Enticing aromas of dark berries, with sandalwood. Full body, with round and velvety tannins and a ripe fruit aftertaste. Juicy and delicious. Best La Serre in years. Best in 2017. James Suckling,
Blueberry, blackberry and mineral aromas follow through to a full body, with fine tannins and a juicy, chocolate finish, turning velvety and beautiful
Tasted at JP Moueix. I always have a soft spot for La Serre and the 2009 is no different with ebullient red-berried fruit: raspberry, wild strawberry and a touch of redcurrant with fine definition. The palate is very pure, very feminine with pure red fruits, filigree tannins and a silky, beautifully delineated finish. Superb. Tasted March 2010.
The 2009 La Serre is a sleeper of the vintage and the best wine I have ever tasted from this property, which sits on pure limestone soils. Amazingly supple and silky, this blend of 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc displays a big, almost Southern Rhone-like nose of kirsch liqueur, licorice and tobacco leaf, while some powdered minerals clearly evoke the limestone terroir to its advantage. Medium to full-bodied, plump and opulent, this is a wine to drink in its first decade of life, although I suspect it will last longer. Wine Advocate.February, 2012
Generous fruit with fine, spicy aromas. Fresh and linear on the palate, the limestone terroir clearly marked. Drink 2015-2025
