Average Score 90.56

La Gomerie produced from 100% Merlot offers deep color, silky textures, licorice, with melted black cherries, earth and truffle scents. Sensuous in texture, the wine ends in opulent layers of ripe black raspberries and licorice.
The fruit and velvety tannins in this wine are beautiful with chocolate and berry character. Love the texture. Always sexy.
The wine is showing its typical ostentatious personality, with deep kirsch, mocha and mulberry notes interwoven with some vanillin, smoke and loamy soil scents. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, this is a relatively luscious as well as precociously styled 2010 that should drink well for 10-12 years. ||From the Becot family’s 6.5-acre vineyard, this 100% Merlot cuvee tips the scales at 14.5% alcohol, and only 1,000 cases were produced. Wine Advocate.February, 2013
This has a very glossy bouquet similar to the Beausejour Becot, a second sample at a negociant more refined and delineated with pure dark cherry, Maraschino and vanilla. The palate is rich and dense, not quite as over-the-top as the nose implied with some fine tensile tannins towards the focused finish. The nose seems to calm down in the glass, improving all the time. Smooth and seductive towards the finish. Tasted April 2011. Neal Martin
Rounded and forward, showing friendly blueberry cobbler, linzer torte and warm fruitcake notes, with a blast of licorice on the finish. Yet this is perhaps a touch overextracted, with the finish clamping down slightly. There's plenty of flesh though, so may fill out after élevage. Wait and see. James Molesworth,
Tight and reserved on the nose but layered fruit on the palate. Round and generous with fine tannins. Persistent. Drink 2016-2025. James Lawther,
Not much nose. Very sweet, rich start and then a surprisingly cool palate. Drying tannins but ripe fruit.
This wine is generous with plum and blackberry flavours. It could be much improved if the flavours had more precision -- it is rather broad in flavour and has some depth of flavours. Overall, a good, well-made St Emilion with moderate length.
