Château La Fleur-Pétrus was the first acquisition of many in Pomerol by Jean Pierre Moueix, who went on to own Château Trotanoy, Château Hosanna and most notably Pétrus. Jean Pierre Moueix was born in Corèzze in South West France and moved to Saint-Émilion with his parent in 1929 following the Great Depression. In his adult life he became aware of the potential of the Merlot wines of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, which at the time were not as widely distributed or as highly regarded as the established Châteaux of the Left Bank.
