Such finesse and depth to this beautiful young wine with blueberry, blackberry and walnut aromas and flavors. Very, very long. Where it should be in this excellent vintage. Mar 2016,
The 2015 La Fleur de Gay is a dark, sumptuous beauty. Beautifully layered and nuanced, the 2015 wraps around the palate in all directions. The 2015 is going to need time to fully come together, but it is striking, even at this early stage. Myriad shades of mocha, black cherry jam, spices and new leather are laced into the deep, resonant finish. Apr 2016,
The 2015 La Fleur de Gay was actually more timid on the nose than the La Croix de Gay, possibly due to the higher percentage of new oak used here. Still, with aeration, it is clear that there is more than enough fruit waiting in the wings. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, lithe in the mouth and well balanced with layers of licorice-tinged black fruit. Perhaps it does not require all that new wood on the finish, but I suspect it will be absorbed with 4-6 years in bottle. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2020-2045
Exceptionally dark. Very savoury nose. Then almost cocoa sweetness on the palate. Very flattering. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2023-2032
This has range, with plum, anise, blueberry and blackberry notes slowly melding together. There is still a dose of toast to soak up, but this shows fleshy drive through the finish. Mar 2016, James Molesworth,
The 2015 La Fleur de Gay is deep garnet-purple in color with a baked plums and blackberry pie nose with black soil, cedar chest and dried herbs hints. The palate is full, muscular and firm with a chewy frame and long, grippy finish with lingering earth notions. Feb 2018,
Tasting note coming soon. Apr 2016,
