A bright, lively, floral style, with lots of raspberry and cherry fruit. A floral edge hangs on through the long, licorice-filled finish. James Molesworth,
Deep in color, with oak, licorice, floral, chocolate and dark berry scents pairs well with the wines round textures and sweet black cherry finish.
Dense and flattering but a rather dry, sour note on the finish. Very uncompromising. Saliva sucking.
This Fronsac was cropped between 22nd September and 1st October and underwent a double turbo-pigeage before fermentation. A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the nose is like walking into an old-fashioned sweet shop: crème de cassis, anis and hints of orange liqueur. There is something slightly medicinal on the palate with very ripe tannins, layers of super-ripe dark berry fruit and a sweet as apple pie finish. It speaks more of the winery than the place it comes from, but obviously a lot of care has been expended into this wine. Tasted April 2011. Neal Martin
Medium-bodied. Attractive fruit and freshness. Poised and satisfying. Drink 2015-2022. James Lawther,
This wine reeks of oak but there is plenty of flavours to support it. The core fruit is juicy and fresh. it will just take time for the rich dense tannins and oak tannins to all integrate. The finish is modest rather than long indicating fairly early term drinking.
An attractive cranberry and mulberry-like fruitiness with hints of underbrush and damp earth permeates this medium-bodied, stylish, mid-weight wine. Dark ruby, it is soft enough to be consumed over the next 5-6 years, but seems to have adequate stuffing to possibly last longer. Feb 2013,
