Average Score 90.08

Tight and tangy with a medium body, a solid core of fruit and a savory finish. Minerally undertones. Shows power and finesse already. We will see which is better: 2015 or 2016. Apr 17,
This absolutely has personality and impact, and they have done a great job of controlling the extraction. A contemporary take on the vintage, with plump, ripe fruit and big drama. Coffee bean, tar, swirling mocha and chocolate. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2035-2040
The La Couspade is a deep, plush wine. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke and torrefaction are all pushed forward. Rich, sumptuous and super-inviting, the 2016 has great palate presence and terrific depth. Apr 2017,
This delivers a big ball of blackberry, fig and boysenberry confiture notes backed by a lively licorice streak. Singed mesquite on the finish. Flirts with overripe, but holds the line in the end. Apr 2017, James Molesworth,
Blackish crimson. Rather heady and opulent on the nose. Super-ripe! Very sweet palate entry - too sweet for refreshment factor, alas. Awkward, unknit, ungracious green tannins on the end. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2023-2032
The 2016 La Couspaude had a slightly smudged bouquet: blueberry and redcurrant fruit, a light floral scent just behind. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry, quite gamey compared to others with possibly just a touch of brettanomyces towards the animally finish. Hopefully this will gain more clarity by the time it is bottled and then it may warrant a higher score. Apr 2017,
