Average Score 87.83

A firm and silky wine with a lovely center palate and impressive density for the appellation. Medium body and a mineral and dried-fruit character. Mar 2017, www.jamessuckling.com
The 2016 La Brande has a tightly wound bouquet that felt rather reticent despite coaxing. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly hard tannin. I appreciate the fruit profile here, and it is quite dark and brooding. Hopefully it will lighten up by the time of bottling, because there is good substance and it may reside at the top of my banded score. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2019-2026
The 2016 La Brande offers notable fruit intensity, although the oak is overpowering at this stage. It will be interesting to see if the 2016 finds a bit better balance during its aging. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
