The most interesting news is the stunning white Hermitage being produced by Jaboulet. No doubt the 1990 Hermitage-Chevalier de Sterimberg will last 2-3 decades. Made from a blend of 45% Roussanne and 55% Marsanne, it spent seven months in oak and was put through malolactic fermentation. It is the finest dry white wine I have tasted from Jaboulet. After having had it three times, I wonder why there are so few aficionados of white Hermitage. I know these wines will require patience, but the 1990 should evolve effortlessly for 25-30 years. If you are looking for something other than Chardonnay, check out this full-bodied, brilliantly made wine. Jun 1994, www.robertparker.com
